This page was created hoping it will in some way help those individuals going up for promotion or going for a selection board.  The following tips were submitted by military men and women wishing you good luck and fair winds.

Other suggestions are welcome, please email our Webmaster, click here

+  Prior to your selection board ensure that your awards/medals are recorded correctly - Submitted by Anonymous

+  Pull your file and read the decorations your unit thinks you are entitled to wear. That may be a different list than you think. Just because you’ve been formally pinned in front of your unit does not mean the unit clerk got round to inputting the awards in the system - Submitted by Anonymous

+  Look carefully at your assignment history. It should be complete, include any “pending” or “excess” assignments - Submitted by Anonymous

+  A quick way to obtain a promotion is to transfer to a unit which is experiencing a shortage of skills you possess. If the unit needs such skilled individuals of a certain rank, then it has the ability to promote you early with a waiver if you are eligible. In this way, it is possible to advance months or even years quicker - Submitted by Anonymous

+  Military Training/Schooling & correspondence courses - make sure they recorded in your file, properly documented.  Include your civilian education/training as well - Submitted by Anonymous
